This will be my third USA cross country trip, but my first solo trip. I'll be driving my 2007 Blue Prius, taking with me two laundry baskets full of clothing, a tent and sleeping bag, my guitar, my computer, phone, and lots of healthy snacks. I will be couchsurfing for the first half of February as I make my way to my first major event, the Holistic MBA TCM (Transformational Coaching Method) Conference in Scottsdale, AZ.
I'm renting out my house in Buffalo, NY on a six month lease, with an option to renew -- meaning that I'm free to stay or come back or go wherever I need to be. This is a very exciting time for me. Upon opening a restaurant (merge) with my sister, Sarah, 5 years ago, I made a commitment to stay with the restaurant for at least the first three years. Now, oat the beginning of our 6th year, merge is thriving, and over the last year I started pulling away from being hands on and began developing my second business, Embodied Emergence. This business is has three parts - health coaching for women (hence Resolve to Evolve), raw food cleanses and catering, and cooking classes. I am feeling so blessed to have a business that can travel with me now, as I build upon the skills I've acquired and make my way toward learning more and immersing myself in the west coast culture.
I will be spending the month of March in LA (with my very generous brother) where I'm taking Matthew Kenney's Raw Culinary Training. I'm excited to amp up my raw techniques and work with professionals who do this kind of prep everyday! Then, in April, I will be completing my Dancing Freedom training on Seven Seeds Farm in Oregon with Samantha Sweetwater.
I am very much looking forward to acquiring new skills, meeting new people, pushing myself outside my comfort zone, and diving deep into trusting myself and the calling that I've been having about traveling out West. This is definitely a spiritual trip of sorts - as much as I am exploring outward, I know that the real journey for me is one of finding a greater level of integrity, respect and trust in myself and my abilities so that I can further empower others to become the change they want to see in the world.
I am feeling called to share my journey, so stay tuned here or follow me on Facebook for updates, stories, hopefully lots of new songs, artwork, and beautiful pictures :)
It's amazing that just in the process of getting ready to leave on this adventure so much is already shifting for me. It has been bittersweet as I have said goodbye to friends, relatives, loved ones, but I know that if I don't heed this call to go not only west, but symbolically to step toward whatever is calling me then I will be missing something great indeed. And I find happiness in the search, in the meantime.
